Education, Communication, and Action

The problems of pollution are so great that we need everyone to help, including YOU!

Education

We all need to learn more about the environment and what we can do to prevent pollution and to clean-up pollution.  Cleaning-up pollution is called remediation, and using microbes to clean-up pollution is called microbial remediation. To learn more, search on the internet, and read books and magazines. The librarian at your public library and school library can help you find good sources of information.

Another important concept is the idea of eliminating pollution at the source of the pollution.  Some people just want to clean-up pollution downstream, but we need to eliminate the pollution at the source.

You can also benefit by learning about pay-for-performance in the business of cleaning-up pollution. Some companies get paid the same amount of money whether they clean-up a little pollution or a lot of pollution at a remediation site.  A better idea is to pay environmental clean-up contractors according to how well they perform.  The clean-up companies should be paid more if they eliminate more pollution, in less time, and whenever they generally do a better job of cleaning-up pollution.  Alternatively, they should be paid less if they don't eliminate enough pollution, take too much time, or don't do a good job.

Communication

After you learn more about the benefits of microbial remediation, you should share the good news. Tell everyone who wants to help the environment about the good work of Might E. Microbe and the Microbial Action Team. In particular, communicate with people who own land that is contaminated with pollution, and communicate with government officials who are providing leadership in cleaning-up pollution.

Action

The best action is to continue educating yourself and others, and continue to communicate what you've learned with other people.  When you hear about a place that is polluted, you might want to write a letter or send an email to the Governor of the state or province, or the Mayor of the closest city or town.  Please remember, the members of Might E. Microbe's Action Team are always polite, and try to get all their facts straight.  In your letter or email, you might suggest that the government should consider using microbial remediation to clean-up polluted soil and water, at the source of the pollution, using pay-for-performance contracts.

Another action is to join the Might E. Microbe Action Team by sending an email to Might E. Microbe at join@FriendlyMicrobes.com.  In the email, tell why you want to join the team.  We'll send you a FREE email newsletter about Might E. Microbe and the Action Team.  The FREE email newsletter will include suggestions for helping the environment.

You can also start your own team and work together to educate, communicate, and encourage action to clean-up the environment.

With many small changes, working together, we will make the world better a place.
